Our library continues to grow, thanks to the efforts of our librarian, Cindy Bull. There is a good selection of books, videos, and audio tapes on piano and piano pedagogy. Everything circulates on a monthly basis and is available for check-out before the monthly meetings. Please remember to sign the sheet when you check out materials. Those who do not return borrowed materials by the meeting in May will be charged a library fine.

National Certification

MLMTA’s Professional Certification Program is a voluntary pro-gram designed to improve the level of professionalism within the field of applied music teaching. The designation of National Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) is given to successful candidates who meet the professional competencies and standards required for MTNA certification. All applied music teachers actively engaged in the profession are eligible for MTNA Professional Certification.

Candidates must successfully complete a three-step application process. Step 1 includes validation of a common body of knowledge in academic, performance, and teaching areas. Step 2 requires letters of refer-ence and two years of teaching experience. Step 3 includes taking a written practical examination.
